We Are Visionaries In Youth-Led Biomimicry
At the International Youth Biomimicry Society (IYBS), we're pioneering the integration of biomimicry into youth education across the globe.
Our Mission
Ignite a passion for nature-inspired innovation in diverse young minds and empower them to solve humanity’s greatest challenges by learning from the world’s most successful designer—-nature.
What Is Biomimicry?
Biomimicry is all about learning from and copying nature’s forms, processes, and ecosystems to solve real-world problems.
Did you know nature has already perfected solutions over 3.8 billion years? From self-cleaning lotus leaves to hummingbird wings that inspired ultra-efficient drones, nature holds the blueprints to innovation.
Why It Matters
We live in a world shaped by environmental challenges. Now more than ever, we need sustainable ideas to tackle problems like climate change, resource shortages, and pollution.
Biomimicry gives us a way forward. It uses nature’s proven solutions to inspire breakthroughs in technology, design, and more—helping us create a future that works in harmony with our planet.
Join The Global Youth Movement
At IYBS, young people from around the world are turning observation into action. Together, we’re shaping a Nature Positive future through creativity, collaboration, and innovation.

Nature's Journey Of Innovation
Nature has been innovating long before we were here:
-
3.8 Billion Years Ago: Earth’s first life forms emerge.
-
530 Million Years Ago: The Cambrian Explosion brings an explosion of biodiversity.
-
300 Million Years Ago: Flying insects master aerodynamics—lessons we still use today.
-
Today: Your journey begins. What will you create?
Our Approach
Where others see trees, birds, and flowers, our youth see blueprints for revolutionary solutions.

Success Stories: Innovation In Action

Sri Lanka
Youth in our program designed anti-aging concepts inspired by Turritopsis dohrnii, a jellyfish that regenerates by reverting its cells to a youthful state.

Canada
A team designed BayClean, a marine filter that mimics baleen whales’ comb-like plates to trap microplastics before they enter the food chain.

Indonesia
Students designed circuit board layouts inspired by blood vessels and tree roots, improving the efficiency of electronic connections.

Voices Of Young Innovators
"Thank you for this session! I learned about Voronoi tessellations and came up with ideas to visualize municipal waste management and natural disaster impacts using color-coded maps. This session really fueled my creativity! :)"
"Thanks, IYBS, for an inspiring session! I designed a 3D-printed biosensor to detect Parkinson’s, using nature-inspired materials like chitosan and gold nanoparticles to mimic biological sensitivity. Learning about 3D printing, applications, and ethics made this experience unforgettable!" 😇💯
